Terms & conditions

Our terms of purchase

When you order from us, you buy under our terms & conditions, and by placing an order it is deemed that you have read and accepted these.

Payment

We accept the following methods of payment: Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Paypal and Apple Pay. All prices are in pounds sterling.

Postage costs

We charge postage at cost; this is calculated in the shopping cart by the combined shipping weight of your books.

Acknowledgement of order

All orders receive an onscreen confirmation and, as soon as your order has gone through, you should receive an order confirmation email from contact@scarletimprint.com – please check your junk email folder and spam filter if it doesn’t arrive. You will also receive a shipping confirmation with tracking details when your order has been packed and prepared for shipping.

Digital editions

Many of our titles are available in digital format. As a gesture of thanks we gift the digital edition with all print books purchased directly from our website, if one is available for the title. We send these out when we process your order for shipping. You will receive a download link to a zip file containing an epub file (for every reader or device except the Kindle) or as a mobi file (for Kindle).

The epub file can be opened in iBooks on a Mac. For Windows, you will first need to download an ebook-reading program, such as Adobe Digital Editions. The mobi file can be read on a Kindle or on any device with the Kindle app, available to download from Amazon.

All physical books purchased directly from our website, whether hardback or paperback, will be accompanied by the digital edition (if available for the title). This will follow your order in a separate email and will be sent in 48 hours or less.

Digital edition license

Our digital editions are DRM-free (free of Digital Rights Management), but are subject to the terms of this license. You own the file, and you can use it on any of your devices in perpetuity. You are prohibited from uploading Scarlet Imprint digital editions to any website or file-sharing network, or in any other way making them available for distribution, sharing, copying, downloading, or reselling.

Despatch

We aim to despatch books within 2 working days of receipt of your order. If the order contains multiple books, including books currently on pre-order, we will ship when all items are in stock.

Delivery

Our primary shipping partner is DHL. This is a fast and fully tracked courier service. Please note, we cannot send parcels to PO Box addresses (although once you have received a DHL shipping confirmation you will be able to change shipping address and specify ‘no signature on delivery’). Please provide us with an address suitable for daytime courier delivery and a phone or mobile number.

Delivery to most destinations is typically 2–5 working days (deliveries to remote areas may take longer).

Delivery to most destinations is typically 2–5 working days (deliveries to remote areas may take longer).

We charge shipping at cost and try to show accurate shipping prices at checkout, however, there may are rare instances where a shipping address/postcode falls under DHL’s list of Remote Areas. Remote areas include certain regions of the United States, Canada, the Scottish highlands, as well as Spanish, Greek and Italian islands or remote areas a large distance from major towns (the full list can be downloaded here). If your shipping address is within one of these postcodes the surcharge must be paid before we ship your order. We will contact you prior to shipping with the option of paying the Remote Area Delivery surcharge (currently £18) or cancelling the order to receive a full refund.

We also offer tracked shipping via DHL Global Mail to Europe and many worldwide destinations. DHL Global Mail is a priority international mail service and offers the fastest delivery possible via the international mail network, although the service does not offer the same speed of delivery as DHL Express.

DHL Global Mail provides status updates at a number of points during the delivery process, including final delivery. Delivery in the destination country is done by the national postal service provider.

Delivery aims: to Germany 2–4 working days; to Europe 3–6 days; and the rest of the world 6–12 days, excluding the day of collection.

Please note, the maximum weight of a parcel sent with this service is 2 kg. If your order is heavier than this, the shipping cost for DHL Global Mail will default to £99, and your order will be sent via DHL Express.

We offer tracked shipping via Royal Mail within the United Kingdom. Please note, the maximum weight of a parcel sent via the Royal Mail is 2 kg. If your order is heavier than this, the shipping cost for the Royal Mail option will default to £99. In this case, orders will be sent via DHL.

Import taxes, customs duties and fees

All international deliveries, including to the EU, now have full customs declarations. The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches the recipient’s country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient; we have no control over these charges and can’t predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for more information. When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates.

Lost books and late delivery

It is our policy to replace books that are lost or damaged in transit.

We will not be responsible for any orders which are not delivered due to incorrect or incomplete information being supplied by you. Please ensure that you enter full and accurate details of the delivery address and the postal code, of the recipient. Please double-check the address carefully when placing your order and on the order notification; if you notice an error after placing an order, email us as soon as possible with the correct details. In the event that a package is returned to us, you will be responsible for the return shipping cost as well as the redelivery cost.

Returns

If the book that you have purchased has physical faults, either in its manufacture or from damage in the shipping process, please email us to request a replacement. In the case that replacement is not possible we will refund you. If your order has been supplied incorrectly, email us and we will make good any shortage or non-delivery. We cannot consider copies returned for other reasons.
